Anita Kuan stumbled into the radio business in 1990 when instinct told her she did not have the personality to remain an auditor. She joined Singapore’s major broadcaster, MediaCorp Radio Singapore as a producer-presenter in its classical music station. Being too loquacious, she was approached to join the news and information station where she rose the ranks to become Programme Director. She missed field work too much and jumped at the offer to join Singapore’s inaugural breakfast television programme, first as an outdoor “live” reporter and soon after, its anchor. When eye bags refused to disappear after years of erratic hours and TV makeup, Anita knew it was time to opt for a less glamorous life. For the past seven years she has been relishing her role as Radio lecturer at Ngee Ann Polytechnic. She hopes this MA will equip her better in this role. Her immediate aim is to survive the British winter and maintain her sanity while bringing up her three-year-old twins.
