Hey my name is Selina Williams, born and raised in Kent; I attended Canterbury Christ Church University where I studied an undergraduate BA Honours course in Film, Radio and Television combined with Sociology. Through university I became involved in CSR Fm (Canterbury Student Radio) which was a community radio station run by volunteer students; I was part of the Community Liaison Team, which required us being mentors to the local schools and liaising with both the teachers, students and parents. In the summer of 2007 I shadowed the Station Producer at Invicta FM (GCap Media) which gave me the opportunity to create promotions for the stations clients and develop station sweepers. Later, I developed a short documentary on the issue of homelessness within Kent, specifically Canterbury. It was broadcasted on BBC Radio Kent and the experience reinforced my love for radio and in particular documentaries and features, which has become the area of radio I am very intrigued to work towards. I hope you enjoy BIRst and the array of programmes available to you by the click of your mouse.
