In 1999 Dave and Caroline Griffiths from Greater Manchester decided to adopt a baby girl from China. As they prepared for their journey they anticipated the time difference, culture shock and language barriers. However what they were unable to prepare for was the emotional demands of meeting their daughter for the very first time in a hotel room in a foreign land. Fourteen years on Dave reflects on that journey, and also on his exceptional relationship with his daughter Phoebe. I met them in their living room as they looked through Phoebe’s adoption memory box.
