Dan is from from St. Helens – think Pilkington Glass, rugby league and Johnny Vegas. Either side of studying a degree in Psychology at Sheffield University he spent time travelling and also lived and worked on the Isles of Scilly. After presenting – and hugely enjoying – a show on the university radio station he developed a passion for radio and decided to pursue it as a career. Dan has spent a month on work experience at Wise Buddah and volunteered at BBC Merseyside over several months in 2007. He also assisted with the coverage of the 2008 World Gig Boat Championships for Radio Scilly. Outside of the course he has co-presented and co-produced a music podcast for CuRioSiTy – a music night at Mr Kyps in Poole – with fellow MARP student Geoff McQueen. In March 2008 Dan was involved with ‘Doing It For Swing’ – a 24 hour broadcast of live DJ sets streamed on the internet in memory of DJ Swing and to raise money for African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust.
Everything on BIRSt is excellent but Dan particularly recommends:
Embers, Shut up and Listen! , Swimmer and Walls Have Ears.
