Having grown up in a town only famous for having some trees blown over in the 1980s, its unsurprising that I grew up using radio as a means of escapism.
My radio journey started with humble beginnings of pretending to present in the garden to an imagined audience as a child. Undeterred by the lack of response, my enthusiasm only increased and, I have been extremely lucky to gain work placements with two local stations.
It was my second placement which really made me sure that I wanted to have a career in radio, especially as I look back at that time with great fondness despite having to live in a spider filled shed on a farm during this time. I look back at the whole experience as one that provided me with more determination as well as a fear of sheds.
After finishing my degree in Communication and Media, I chose to return to Bournemouth to study Radio Production in order to pursue a career in the industry and am thrilled to be part of the BIRST team as Head of Marketing. I see this year as an opportunity to push myself forward.
