Vulcan 607

By 19th of March 20092009

In April 1982 Argentine forces invaded the Falkland Islands. Britain was caught out, and needed an answer, fast. The response was one of the most ambitious operations since 617 Squadron bounced their bombs into the dams of wartime Germany. This is the story of the most remarkable British air attack since the Second World War. It would take 15 Victor refuelling tankers and seventeen separate in-flight refuels to get a single Avro Vulcan and its load of twenty-one thousand pound bombs to the target and give it and its crew a chance to come back. An adaptation of Rowland White’s gripping novel Vulcan 607.
